Introduction

Trello is the visual work management tool that empowers teams to ideate, plan, manage, and celebrate their work together in a collaborative, productive, and organized way.
Whether you and your team are starting something new or trying to get more organized with your existing work, Trello adapts to any project.

Trello is explained in more detail in the following links:

Trello vs Jira

Jira is a more structured tool to support the complex processes for development teams or Project management on a higher level and provided build in reporting options.

The primary difference between Jira and Trello is that Trello exclusively provides Kanban boards, whereas Jira offers a broader range of board options including Kanban, Scrum, and sprint boards. Both Scrum and Kanban boards are employed to visually monitor a project’s task progression.
Please find here a link where a comparison is made for Jira vs Trello to gives  more insight on the difference.

When we look at data storage, Jira and Confluence used by YME are both using a Datacenter license. All data is stored on Yamaha owned servers and MS SQL databases.
Trello is a cloud only product and data is stored on a Atlassian server. We have a NDA and DPIA in place for Trello so this is covered, but when it comes to classified information Yamaha prefers to store this data in Jira.

In the future we might move our Jira and Confluence tools also to Atlassian cloud, but there we have the option to select a region where the servers are placed, for Trello this is not possible.
